Rural Telangana has rejected Revanth Reddy’s rule: Harish Rao

Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader and former Minister T. Harish Rao said the panchayat election results show that rural Telangana has rejected Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s administration, citing growing public resentment and failed promises.

Speaking at a felicitation ceremony for BRS-backed Sarpanches in Medak, Harish Rao congratulated the winners and accused the ruling Congress of misusing power. “Ruling parties usually win 80 to 90 percent of Sarpanch seats. Despite the Chief Minister campaigning personally and allegedly violating the poll code, Congress could not cross 50 percent. BRS-backed candidates won over 40 percent. This is a direct verdict against Congress misrule,” he said.

Harish Rao alleged that the Congress government had failed to implement its Six Guarantees. He said key promises, including 42 percent BC reservations, farm loan waivers, and Rythu Bandhu assistance, remained unfulfilled. “Less than half the eligible farmers have received loan waivers. There are no funds for pensions, but crores are being spent on football stars and beauty pageants,” he added.

He accused Congress MLAs of token activism during elections. “They sit at polling booths and bow to voters. Where were they when farmers queued for urea or when Gurukul students were served worm-infested food?” he asked.

The BRS leader warned that the government was afraid to conduct ZPTC and MPTC elections due to the growing support for BRS. He told officials to act without bias, stating that nearly 80 percent of Finance Commission funds go directly to panchayats, leaving little room for political interference.

Harish Rao assured full support from BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao and said the party would return to power in two years. “The pink flag will fly once again atop the Secretariat,” he declared, warning that any injustice to BRS workers would be “repaid with interest.”

Former MLA Padma Devender Reddy, MLC Seri Subhash Reddy, and other senior leaders attended the event.
