CM Revanth Reddy calls for united fight against vote theft, warns of democracy threat

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday urged opposition parties to unite against what he termed “vote theft,” warning that it posed a serious threat to India’s parliamentary democracy.

Speaking at the memorial meeting of CPI national leader and former MP Comrade Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, the Chief Minister accused the Centre of manipulating the Election Commission. He alleged that Delhi’s rulers were deleting opponents’ names from voter lists, creating fake votes, and bending election machinery to suit their interests.

Revanth Reddy pointed out that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had already raised this issue in Bihar. Therefore, he argued, similar resistance must spread across the country. He also charged the Union government with conspiring to alter the Constitution and urged Communist parties to intensify struggles in defense of people’s rights.

“Communism is not just theory; it is about fighting for people’s rights. Left parties have dethroned governments through sustained struggles in the past,” he said.

The Chief Minister further recalled his association with Sudhakar Reddy, describing him as one of the rare leaders who fully dedicated his life to the party and the people. In addition, he remembered Suravaram Pratap Reddy’s role in resisting Nizam rule through Golconda Patrika.

Revanth Reddy said present-day politics needed leaders like Sudhakar Reddy. He announced that the Telangana cabinet would soon take a decision to honor Sudhakar Reddy’s services. Moreover, he noted that the state had already recognized several icons of people’s struggles by naming institutions after Chakali Ailamma and Konda Laxman Bapuji, and by installing the statue of Sardar Sarvai Papanna on Tank Bund.
