CM Revanth Reddy to chair key meeting on Jubilee Hills bypoll candidate selection

Hyderabad: The upcoming Jubilee Hills bypoll has triggered a high-stakes political contest, with Congress, BRS, and BJP intensifying their ground-level campaigns. Political analysts believe the result could influence the wider balance of power in Telangana.

The BRS is reaching voters through condolence gatherings for late MLA Maganti Gopinath. Meanwhile, Congress is pushing its welfare and development agenda. At the same time, BJP is positioning itself as the dark horse, claiming it will break the dominance of the two main rivals.

Revanth Reddy to finalize Congress strategy

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will hold a strategy meeting at 6 p.m. today to finalize the Congress roadmap. PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud and several ministers will join the talks.

Reports suggest that the BRS has nearly settled on its candidate. In contrast, Congress still faces stiff internal competition for the ticket. Party insiders expect the Chief Minister to pick a nominee who can directly challenge both BRS and BJP.

Congress assigns ministers to divisions

To strengthen its chances, Congress has divided the constituency into three zones. Each zone has been placed under the charge of a minister, who will oversee two divisions. Additionally, 18 corporation chairmen will support them in campaigning.

The party plans to rely heavily on development and welfare programmes to counter attacks from opposition parties.

Flashpoint ahead of notification

Even before the Election Commission announces the bypoll schedule, Jubilee Hills has already emerged as a political flashpoint. Once polling dates are declared, leaders expect a fierce three-way showdown between Congress, BRS, and BJP.
