CM Revanth urges Centre to sanction IIM Hyderabad, new KVs and JNVs

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi. He urged the Centre to establish an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Hyderabad. He cited the city’s strong presence in technology, life sciences, aerospace, defence, logistics, and advanced manufacturing.

The meeting was held at the Minister’s chamber in Parliament. Revanth Reddy pointed out that while 21 IIMs exist across 19 states and one Union Territory, Telangana remains the only major state without one.

Telangana pushes for premier educational institutions

The Chief Minister informed the Union Minister that 200 acres had been earmarked within the University of Hyderabad campus for the proposed IIM. Additionally, a transit campus is ready to begin classes immediately. He assured full support from the State for infrastructure and approvals.

Revanth highlighted Hyderabad’s excellent air, rail, and road connectivity and its strong academic and industrial base. He said these factors make it an ideal location for a world-class management institute.

He also requested the approval of nine new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) and 16 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs). This request aligns with the recent increase in Telangana’s districts. He emphasized the need to improve access to quality education in both urban and rural areas amid rapid urbanisation.
