Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday launched an aerial electromagnetic survey for the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel works at Mannevari Palli village in Achampet mandal, Nagarkurnool district.
Revanth Reddy, accompanied by Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, arrived by helicopter from Begumpet airport and flagged off the survey operations near the SLBC tunnel outlet. The Chief Minister also took part in the operation, flying in a separate helicopter alongside the surveying aircraft for a brief aerial review of the process.
NGRI to oversee high-tech survey for SLBC tunnel alignment
The heliborne electromagnetic survey is being conducted under the supervision of the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI). A special transmitter mounted on the helicopter will collect geological data from depths of up to 1,000 meters. The survey aims to map underground shear zones and water flow patterns critical to SLBC tunnel alignment and safety.
According to officials, the data gathered will help refine tunnel engineering and planning, ensuring stability and optimal water flow through the canal system.
