Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said some people were making deliberate allegations over the 22A issue. He said no one needed to remind his government of its responsibilities.
Speaking in the Assembly, Revanth Reddy said his government had focused on the 22A issue even before the current Assembly proceedings. He described it as a people’s government.
The Chief Minister said the Assembly took up the issue because of allegations against the government. He also accused the opposition of trying to avoid discussions on major public issues.
Revanth Reddy said BRS members faced suspension because they acted irresponsibly in the House. He said the government had followed the Assembly rules framed during the previous BRS government.
The Chief Minister also referred to issues linked to the previous government’s tenure. He said the BRS knew that the Assembly would discuss mistakes made during its rule.
Revanth Reddy 22A remarks target BRS Assembly conduct
Revanth Reddy said BRS members knew discussions could also cover the issue of alleged rituals. He alleged that some members had travelled to other states and therefore wanted to avoid remaining in the House.
According to the Chief Minister, the BRS wanted to prevent discussion of mistakes made during its government. He said the present government followed the same Assembly rules that the previous government had introduced.
Those rules barred members from entering the Assembly with slogan-bearing clothing and placards, Revanth Reddy said. He added that officials stopped the BRS members at Gate No. 3 on the Speaker’s instructions.
The Chief Minister said similar rules applied in Parliament. He questioned whether Rahul Gandhi would also face restrictions there if such rules were in force.
Revanth Reddy alleged that BRS members had broken rules introduced by their own government. He also accused them of attacking police personnel outside the Assembly.
The Chief Minister further alleged that BRS members used objectionable language against the Speaker. He said they had displayed arrogance and lost restraint during the episode.
Revanth Reddy reiterated that his government had taken up the 22A issue after facing allegations. He said the Assembly would continue discussions on major issues.
