Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday cautioned Congress leaders and workers against treating party posts casually, stressing that party roles alone guarantee recognition and respect within public life.
Speaking at an extended TPCC working group meeting at Gandhi Bhavan, Revanth said party posts would help leaders grow politically and should not be underestimated. He directed district in-charge ministers to take up every issue seriously, ensuring the swift filling of pending party posts. He also advised that all social communities be adequately represented in committees.
Revanth demanded clarity on why the TPCC chief was delaying appointments and said a national narrative should be woven into the party’s local body election strategy. He reiterated the commitment to secure 42% reservations for backward classes in the local polls.
The Chief Minister turned the spotlight on the Jubilee Hills assembly by-election, urging party ranks to focus their energies there. He warned that three parties would be contesting together in the bypoll, and asked Congress workers to mount an effective campaign.
Highlighting achievements, Revanth described Telangana as a model for other states, crediting the Congress with forcing the Centre to agree to a caste census. He recalled success in education, employment generation, and party expansion, citing 45 lakh active memberships secured during his earlier term as TPCC president.
Revanth reminded party cadres that many Youth Congress, NSUI, and district presidents were elevated to government posts, reinforcing that party work pays off.
He said the 2029 Assembly elections should be seen as a launchpad for emerging leadership and called on grassroots workers to engage with people in the villages, coordinate efforts, and showcase welfare initiatives to retain power for a second consecutive term.
Expressing confidence that Congress would rule Telangana for the next ten years, Revanth praised AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge’s decades of public service and urged party members to take inspiration from his commitment and perseverance.
