Hyderabad: District officials in Ranga Reddy launched a comprehensive awareness campaign on Tuesday as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. This initiative aims at curbing drug use and promoting a drug-free lifestyle. District Revenue Officer (DRO) Sangeetha led the initiative and administered a public pledge at the Integrated District Offices Complex.
The pledge emphasized active participation in the anti-drug movement and commitment to a drug-free life. It encouraged efforts to prevent others from falling prey to drugs. Additionally, it urged cooperation with authorities by reporting illegal drug sale, purchase, or transport. It reaffirmed support for the Telangana government’s vision of building a drug-free society.
Officials stress collective responsibility to fight drug abuse
DRO Sangeetha urged officials to leverage social media and available communication tools to spread awareness on the dangers of drug abuse. She described narcotic use as a social parasite that demands complete eradication.
Calling for united efforts, she said the government, police, youth, and civil society must work together. She stressed the need for educational campaigns targeting youth, students, and parents. These campaigns should highlight the severe impact of drug use on physical and mental health.
She also called on the public to remain vigilant in schools, colleges, and neighborhoods. “Drug use is destroying the future of the youth,” she warned. She urged youngsters to report any illegal drug activity to the police without delay.
Officials from multiple departments participate
The meeting was attended by District Women and Child Welfare Officer Srilatha, DPO Suresh Mohan, ED of SC Corporation Padmavati, PD MEPMA Venkata Narayana, and other departmental officials and staff.
