Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao criticised Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge over his remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and suggested that he step away from active politics.
The Election Commission issued notices to Kharge following his controversial comments. Responding to the development, Ramchander Rao said Kharge does not act independently and functions under the influence of Rahul Gandhi.
He alleged that Kharge’s statements reflect the Congress party’s position. According to him, both the party and Rahul Gandhi must take responsibility for such remarks.

The BJP leader said issuing notices alone is not sufficient. Instead, he stated that people will respond politically to such statements.
Meanwhile, Ramchander Rao referred to ongoing elections in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. He called on voters in West Bengal to participate without fear and exercise their franchise in large numbers.
He expressed hope that authorities would ensure peaceful polling without untoward incidents. Further, he said the results scheduled on May 4 would bring political change in both states.
He added that the BJP expects favourable outcomes in the elections.
