Minister Ponnam urges alert campaigning in Jubilee Hills ahead of bypoll

Hyderabad: With just 48 hours left for the Jubilee Hills bypoll, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar intensified his door-to-door campaign in the Yusufguda division on Friday. He urged voters to back Congress candidate Naveen Yadav.

During his whirlwind tour, Ponnam rode a bike between booth-level offices. He personally met voters and coordinated with local leaders. He described Naveen Yadav as a qualified and local candidate. According to him, voting for Naveen would ensure continued development and welfare.

Jubilee Hills bypoll campaign: Party switchers join Congress

At Vengal Rao Nagar, several BRS and BJP workers switched to Congress. They joined under the leadership of local figures Sanjay Goud and Feroz Khan. Ponnam welcomed them with party stoles and asserted that only Congress could bring real progress to Jubilee Hills.

He also highlighted government schemes like Indiramma housing, ₹500 gas cylinders, 200 units of free electricity, subsidised rice, interest-free loans for women’s groups, and free RTC bus travel for women.

Moreover, he urged party workers to remain alert until polling. “If you want to raise the Congress flag in Jubilee Hills, use these final 48 hours wisely,” he said.

Nayi Brahmin community backs Congress

Later, Ponnam met with the Nayi Brahmin community. They pledged full support for Congress in the bypoll. Addressing their demands, he promised zero electricity bills for salons using up to 200 units, just like households. He also assured that no power connections would be cut over pending dues.

As a former MP, Ponnam said he had allotted 10 guntas of land and ₹10 lakh for a community building. He encouraged traditional workers to upgrade their skills using modern tools. Furthermore, he announced plans to set up a training institute for salon modernisation.

Finally, he called on all communities to unite and ensure the victory of backward-class candidate Naveen Yadav.
