Ponguleti says Telangana sanctioned 8 lakh Indiramma houses

Hyderabad: Telangana Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the state government had sanctioned 8 lakh Indiramma houses during its two-and-a-half years in office. He said the government implemented the housing programme transparently and without corruption.

The Minister made the remarks during a visit to Gadwal district on Wednesday. He was accompanied by Minister Vakiti Srihari, local MLAs and District Collector Rizwan Basha Shaik. Meanwhile, the leaders laid the foundation stone for a Tahsildar office building and a Venkateswara temple. They also distributed Indiramma house sanction letters to beneficiaries.

Before the public meeting, Ponguleti paid tributes to former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on his 77th birth anniversary.

8 lakh Indiramma houses sanctioned in phases

Ponguleti said the government sanctioned 4.5 lakh houses in the first phase of the Indiramma housing scheme. Further, it approved 2.5 lakh houses for rural areas and another one lakh houses under the CURE programme, taking the total to eight lakh.

He said beneficiaries received house sanctions without paying bribes. Additionally, 1.35 lakh beneficiaries had already completed housewarming ceremonies. Another 1.25 lakh houses had reached the slab stage, while the remaining houses were under construction.

The Minister said the government had sanctioned 1,500 houses for each Assembly constituency in the second phase. It also approved another 500 houses in every constituency to replace huts with permanent houses.

Meanwhile, Ponguleti said the state government would release ₹9,300 crore for farmers at a programme in Khammam on July 10 under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He said the government was working with the slogan “Rythu is King” and remained committed to farmers’ welfare.
