Hyderabad: Cyberabad Municipal Corporation has issued new directions to Swiggy and Zomato on onboarding food businesses. The civic body ordered the platforms to list only hotels and restaurants with valid licences.
Under the new Swiggy Zomato rules, food businesses must hold valid FSSAI licences. They must also have valid CMC trade licences to remain on the platforms.
The civic body directed the companies to immediately remove businesses with expired licences. It also ordered them to delist food businesses whose licences authorities have suspended or cancelled.
Officials have also sought details about the food rating and hygiene rating systems used by the delivery platforms. The move aims to strengthen compliance among food businesses operating through online delivery services.

The directions require delivery platforms to verify licensing status before onboarding food businesses. Businesses that no longer meet the required conditions should not remain available to customers.
CMC has also sought information on how food quality and hygiene ratings work on the platforms. The details could help the civic body assess existing food safety monitoring practices.
The latest directions cover licensing, platform onboarding and food business compliance. Swiggy and Zomato will have to follow the requirements for businesses operating within the CMC jurisdiction.
