Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy visits Gadwal amid tension, highlights Bhoobharati law for farmers
HYDERABAD: Telangana Revenue, Housing and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s visit to Gadwal constituency in Mahbubnagar district on Saturday concluded amid a tense atmosphere. The visit coincided with a farmers’ awareness meeting held in Darur mandal, chaired by local MLA Krishna Mohan Reddy and attended by MP Mallu Ravi.
In his address, Minister Ponguleti stated that the state government had introduced the Bhoobharati law during the Telangana Minister Visit to address land-related issues faced by farmers. He explained that the law aims to grant land rights to farmers without imposing any financial burden on them. Criticising the previous government’s Dharani scheme, he claimed that it benefited only a few families.
He further said that the current administration is ensuring the resolution of farmers’ problems by deputing revenue officers to every village.
The Minister announced that pilot projects under the Bhoobharati law would be launched in the remaining 28 districts of the state starting the first week of May. He also stated that amendments would be made to the law, if necessary, to ensure full justice to farmers. He revealed that around 926,000 applications had remained pending under the previous regime, which the present government is actively working to resolve.
Highlighting welfare initiatives under the Indiramma Raj, Minister Ponguleti said the government is providing quality rice, free electricity, a ₹500 bonus, gas subsidies, and other welfare schemes to the underprivileged. He added that integrated schools are being constructed in every constituency, and the government aims to empower one crore women across the state.
District Collector Santosh Kumar, Additional Collector Lakshmi Narayana, DCCB Chairman Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Market Chairman Nalla Hanumantu, and other senior officials were also present at the event.
