Phone tapping still active in Telangana, says Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy

Hyderabad: Phone tapping is continuing in Telangana, Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said on Tuesday. He stressed that the government is treating the issue with utmost seriousness.

Speaking at a press conference in Khammam, the minister said the government has launched an official investigation. The probe aims to identify locations where surveillance equipment was installed. He also warned that authorities will take strict legal action against those found guilty once the inquiry concludes.

“We will not overlook any violations of democratic freedoms,” Ponguleti said. He noted that several individuals have raised concerns. Moreover, he said irregularities still persist. The State government, therefore, is conducting a detailed inquiry. The focus is on the masterminds behind the activity and the exact sites of device installation. “We will uncover the truth, and the law will take its course,” he added.

Meanwhile, the minister said concerns over illegal surveillance have grown steadily. He confirmed that the issue spans both the past and the present.

Polling will take place on Wednesday across 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations. He credited the government’s two-year record of fulfilling promises and staying connected with the public. As a result, he claimed the party could secure over 80 percent of the seats.
