Osmania University Police crack Tarnaka murder case, arrest three

Hyderabad: The Osmania University Police, in coordination with the Task Force East Zone, arrested three men in connection with the brutal murder of a 58-year-old in Tarnaka. The case (Cr. No. 521/2025) was solved within two days of the crime, according to officials.

The victim, Magu Singh, a resident of Dhoolpet, was killed on December 1. Police described the killing as a planned act rooted in superstition and personal rivalry.

Accused blamed victim for personal troubles

The primary accused, Shaik Ghouse alias Goush (43), who runs a fish business in Chilkalguda, believed Singh was practicing black magic against his family. Ghouse linked the victim to ongoing financial losses, domestic disputes, and rumours regarding his wife. As a result, he conspired with his son-in-law Syed Shoaib (32), a cab driver, to kill Singh. A third individual, Md Ilyas (20), assisted them.

Following their plan, Shoaib allegedly lured Singh to Boost Hotel Lane in Chilkalguda. There, Ghouse struck Singh on the head with an iron rod. The men then transported the injured victim in a Xylo car (TS07 UE 3424) to Tarnaka, where Ghouse allegedly slit Singh’s throat before abandoning the body.

Police recover weapons and track suspects

Based on credible intelligence, police arrested all three suspects on December 3. They recovered the murder weapons near the residence of the accused—a 21.5-inch iron rod and a 16-inch knife. Officers also seized two motorcycles, two mobile phones, and the clothes worn during the crime.

Ghouse has a previous criminal record. He was earlier named in a theft case (Cr. No. 549/2011, Mailardevpally PS) and an attempted culpable homicide case (Cr. No. 861/2024, Banjara Hills PS).

Senior officers monitored the investigation

The case was cracked under the leadership of DCP East Zone B. Bala Swamy, IPS. Senior officers including Addl. DCP J. Narasiah, Addl. DCP Ande Srinivas, and ACP G. Jagan oversaw operations.

Police urged the public not to believe in black magic or resort to violence due to superstition. “Black magic is illegal. If anyone encounters such activity, they should immediately inform the police,” the East Zone police said.
