HYDERABAD: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has praised the container school initiative in Bangarupalli village, Mulugu district, calling it a national model for addressing infrastructure challenges in remote areas. Minister Seethakka launched this innovative facility in September 2024 to provide quality education in forested and hard-to-reach regions where permanent buildings are not feasible. So far, two such schools and a primary health centre have been set up under her leadership.
In a recent video on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), AICC showcased the container school’s success, reaffirming the Congress party’s commitment to making education accessible to all. The video featured Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and Minister Seethakka, emphasizing the party’s focus on public welfare and fulfilling promises. Minister Seethakka expressed pride in the initiative, calling the Mulugu container school a model for the nation.
The project, Telangana’s first container school, took shape through the combined efforts of Minister Seethakka and Collector Divakar, with an investment of Rs 13 lakh. The existing school building had become unusable. Since the village is inside a reserved forest, obtaining clearance for new construction was difficult. The forest department denied permission for traditional buildings. As a solution, authorities repurposed a 25×25-foot container into a fully functional classroom, staffed by two teachers. This approach has given local tribal children a better learning environment despite geographical and bureaucratic challenges.
