Ministers launch ₹250 crore road and irrigation works in Miryalaguda

Hyderabad: Telangana ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday launched ₹250 crore worth of infrastructure and welfare projects in Miryalaguda. These initiatives are part of the Congress government’s mission to connect every village to mandal centres and accelerate rural development.

₹74 crore road project leads major upgrades

The ministers kickstarted the construction of a ₹74 crore four-lane road from Shettipalem to Avantipuram. Alongside this, they also launched ₹31 crore worth of CC roads and drainage infrastructure. Additionally, they approved ₹15 crore for the upgrade of the Miryalaguda–Tadkamalla road.

They further inaugurated new educational facilities, including a ₹5 crore building at KNM Degree College and ₹2.25 crore worth of new classrooms at the local government junior college.

Telangana intensifies road development drive

Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy emphasized that the state had already cleared ₹250 crore for HAM road projects in Miryalaguda alone. Furthermore, he announced upcoming investments of ₹450 crore for Nagarjunasagar and ₹350 crore for Devarakonda, with tenders to be released soon.

At the macro level, the state government is investing ₹65,000 crore in road development. Notably, it plans to upgrade the Hyderabad–Vijayawada highway with ₹10,500 crore and the Hyderabad–Chityal road with ₹7,600 crore.

Irrigation projects receive ₹101 crore boost

Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that all pending lift irrigation schemes in the region would be completed swiftly. He earmarked ₹57 crore for lining the Miryalaguda Main Canal and ₹24 crore for constructing check dams in Dubb Tanda, Shantinagar, and Ravulapenta. In addition, ₹20 crore will go toward developing feeder channels.

He reassured farmers that ayacut areas would receive consistent water supply without interruption.

Welfare agenda includes SC categorisation, BC quota

Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted that the government had implemented SC categorisation and is actively working to provide 42% reservation for BCs. He also mentioned that ration cards are being issued to all eligible families correcting the previous administration’s failures.

Moreover, he said the state is purchasing every grain of paddy and transferring payments to farmers’ accounts within 72 hours. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to welfare through schemes offering free rice, electricity, and public transport.

Citizens urged to utilise government benefits

The minister encouraged the public to fully utilise Indiramma housing and other welfare programmes. He underscored the Congress government’s commitment to inclusive growth and equitable service delivery.

MP K. Raghuveer Reddy, MLA B. Lakshma Reddy, MLC Shankar Naik, Chief Engineer Venkateshwar Rao, Collector Ila Tripathi, and other senior officials participated in the event.
