Proud to be voice of Dalits, weaker sections: Seethakka at Dalit Progress Conference

HYDERABAD: Minister Seethakka delivered a significant speech at the Dalit Progress Conference held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The conference was inaugurated by Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. Addressing the attendees, Minister Seethakka expressed her pride in representing the voices of marginalized and weaker sections of society.

Reflecting on her personal journey, she shared, “As an Adivasi woman, I have directly faced the hardships and injustices that our marginalized communities endure. Today, standing before you as an example of empowerment, I have not only been elected as an MLA three times but currently serve as the Minister for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Women, and Child Welfare. This journey has been filled with numerous challenges.”

Minister Seethakka emphasized the importance of fighting against systemic oppression, stating that the time has come to address deeply entrenched societal issues. She highlighted the need to celebrate achievements, no matter how small, to honor the sacrifices and victories of those who fought before us. Citing historical struggles from the Ayankali movement to Nangeli’s sacrifice, she reminded attendees of the rich legacy of resistance and revolution among Dalits and Adivasis.

She urged the community to draw inspiration from this history and continue striving for an egalitarian society. “Throughout human history, we, as Dalits, have witnessed many dark days, but each time we have stood resilient. By supporting one another, we must work towards a better future for the coming generations,” she concluded.
