HYDERABAD: During the ongoing Telangana Assembly budget sessions on Wednesday, a heated exchange occurred between BRS MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar concerning a recent incident involving an attempted assault on a young woman in an MMTS train. MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy criticized the government, stating that two days had passed since the incident without the accused being apprehended, indicating a deterioration of law and order in the state.
In response, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar informed the Assembly that the accused had been identified and arrested by the police. He highlighted that since the Congress government assumed office, reforms have been implemented within the police department to promote community-friendly policing and to take stringent action against offenders. The minister cautioned against dragging the police into political matters, asserting that such actions could lead to situations similar to the previous BRS administration, resulting in them sitting in the opposition.
