Minister Ponnam Prabhakar greets fishermen on World Fisheries Day

Hyderabad: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar extended warm greetings to fishing communities on World Fisheries Day, which was marked on 21 November. Moreover, he praised Gangaputras, Besthas, Gundlas and Mudiraj families for preserving the traditional fishing profession across generations. He said the day recognised groups that depended on fish-based livelihoods for survival.

In his video message, he noted that fishermen played a key role in ensuring food security and supporting the national economy. As a result, he said the government valued their daily efforts and long-standing service. He stressed that the administration remained committed to the welfare of all those working in the sector. Additionally, he said their contribution formed the backbone of rural nutritional support.
