Hyderabad: GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi on Friday reviewed ₹10 crore worth of civic works in the Banjara Hills division during a tour of multiple bastis. The inspection covered projects related to CC roads, drinking water pipelines, and sewerage systems nearing completion.
Officials told to fast-track civic works
The Mayor visited NBT Nagar, Uday Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Sriram Nagar, Prem Nagar, Khaja Nagar, and Bola Nagar. She interacted with residents and instructed officials to speed up pending work. Many projects are already in final stages, completed within 20 days of foundation laying.
Local residents expressed satisfaction with the rapid progress and thanked the Mayor for prioritising the area’s development. Vijayalakshmi also assured that remaining works worth ₹2 crore in the division would be launched without delay.
Permanent Anganwadi building promised
During her visit to NBT Nagar, parents raised concerns about Anganwadi Centre–2, which is operating from a cramped rented space. They flagged safety and health risks to children.
In response, the Mayor said efforts would begin to construct a permanent facility, subject to identification of suitable government land. She added that talks with the district collector would be held soon, stressing the government’s commitment to child welfare.
