Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) organised a prize distribution ceremony as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 campaign, an initiative of the Ministry of Education aligned with the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The ceremony, held under the Cultural Activity Centre and Dean Student’s Welfare (DSW), recognised winners of competitions conducted between 17 September and 2 October. Moreover, it highlighted the university’s effort to integrate awareness drives with student activities.
Prof. Syed Alim Ashraf Jaisi, Dean Students’ Welfare, addressed the gathering as Chief Guest. He stressed the importance of cleanliness in daily life and said such campaigns build awareness. Furthermore, he noted that the initiatives instill responsibility among youth to work for a clean and sustainable society.
MANUU Swachhata Hi Seva event includes Gandhi film screening
As part of Gandhi Jayanti, the University Film Club screened Sir Richard Attenborough’s Oscar-winning film Gandhi. In addition, Dr. Meraj Ahmed Mubaraki, President of the Film Club, said the film reflected Gandhi’s values of truth, non-violence, and simplicity. He underlined the continued relevance of Gandhi’s philosophy in the modern world.
The screening was followed by a discussion where participants shared reflections on Gandhi’s message. Consequently, several students spoke about applying Gandhi’s ideals to contemporary challenges.
Cultural Coordinator Meraj Ahmad, UFAC President Dr. Jarrar Ahmad, and Assistant Registrar M.A. Quddus also took part. Along with them, secretaries, joint secretaries, and members of student clubs contributed actively. Finally, the participation of faculty, staff, and students reaffirmed MANUU’s commitment to the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign.
