KTR slams Telangana govt over cardboard boxes used for migrant workers’ remains

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K.T. Rama Rao on Friday lashed out at the state government for shifting the remains of workers killed in the Sangareddy Sigachi Industries blast using cardboard boxes. He questioned whether migrant workers were considered less human than others.

Posting a video on social media platform X, the former minister highlighted images showing the remains being moved in cardboard containers after the explosion at Sigachi Industries in Pasamailaram, Sangareddy district. KTR said grieving families were left to beg police officers for information, while the administration failed to maintain any proper data on how many employees were inside the facility when the accident took place.

He also cited the February 22 incident in Nagarkurnool district, where rescue operations were stopped at the Srisailam Lift Bank Canal following a mishap, leaving families of eight missing workers still awaiting answers or compensation.

KTR alleged that the treatment of the deceased workers in the Sigachi case showed a complete lack of dignity, accusing officials of failing to respect even basic humanitarian norms.
