Hyderabad: The High Court on Thursday ordered JNTU to explain its decision on grace marks for different student batches.
Justice Juvvadi Sridevi heard a petition challenging the university’s grace-mark policy. The petition questioned the different percentages granted to R18, R21 and R22 students.
According to the source, JNTU had granted 0.5 percent grace marks to R18 (2018-19) and R21 students. Meanwhile, the university had limited the concession to 0.15 percent for R22 students.
The university considered online classes and network-related difficulties during the Covid period while deciding the grace marks. However, the petition challenged the lower concession provided to the R22 batch.
The petitioner sought equal treatment for the students concerned. The plea specifically requested that R22 students should receive 0.5 percent grace marks, matching the concession given to R18 and R21 students.

During the hearing, the court sought an explanation from JNTU regarding the decision. The university therefore faces questions over the difference between the grace-mark percentages granted to the batches.
