BRS leader KTR demanded an agricultural emergency in Telangana, citing farmer distress. He also criticised CM Revanth Reddy over governance failures.
HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has demanded that the Telangana government declare an agricultural emergency in the state, citing severe distress among farmers. He stated that seven farmers had died by suicide within 48 hours, attributing the crisis to the government’s failed agricultural policies.
KTR criticised the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government, claiming that various sections of society, particularly farmers, are struggling under its rule. He urged the state to take immediate steps to support the agricultural sector and prevent further farmer suicides.
KTR also condemned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his handling of the SLBC Project tunnel accident in Nagarkurnool, where eight workers remain trapped. He accused the Chief Minister of focusing on election campaigns instead of overseeing rescue operations and addressing the crisis.
Congress Leaders Joining BRS
Amidst growing political shifts, several Congress leaders and workers from the Station Ghanpur Assembly constituency joined BRS at an event held at Telangana Bhavan. Addressing the gathering, KTR stated that the exodus of Congress members was proof of the government’s poor performance.
Delhi Visits Without Results
KTR further alleged that Revanth Reddy had visited Delhi 35 times since becoming Chief Minister but had failed to secure any major projects for Telangana. He also pointed out that even after multiple discussions with the Congress high command, Revanth Reddy had been unable to expand his cabinet.
The demand for an agricultural emergency comes as opposition parties intensify their criticism of the government, raising concerns over its handling of key issues in the state.
