KTR slams Congress over ‘zero development’ in Khammam after two years

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday accused the Congress government of delivering zero development in Khammam, despite being in power for two years and having three ministers from the district.

KTR hits out over stalled Sitarama Sagar project

Addressing BRS sarpanches at a felicitation event in Khammam, KTR said the district had not witnessed any tangible progress. He pointed out that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had launched the Sitarama Sagar project to boost irrigation in the region.

According to him, nearly 90% of the project was completed during the BRS tenure. It aimed to irrigate 7.5 lakh acres and secure Khammam’s share of Godavari waters. However, KTR alleged that the Congress government let the project stall after assuming office.

Furthermore, he accused the three Congress ministers from Khammam of focusing on commissions instead of public welfare. “They are incapable of doing good and are deceiving the people,” he said.

The BRS leader detailed that the project would have irrigated 1.30 lakh acres in Aswaraopet, 40,000 acres in Sathupalli, 20,000 acres each in Illendu and Wyra, and 10,000 acres in Kothagudem. “Now, all of it stands neglected,” he remarked.

He concluded by mocking the Congress government’s performance, stating that “defaults, demolitions and explosions” were its only achievements in two years.
