Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress Disciplinary Committee submitted a detailed report on Minister Konda Surekha and Chinna Reddy to the TPCC president for further action by the party leadership.
Disciplinary Committee Chairman Mallu Ravi said the panel had covered all relevant issues concerning both Congress leaders in its report. He said the committee met the TPCC chief and formally submitted its findings.
The report was subsequently forwarded to party in-charge Meenakshi, Mallu Ravi said. He added that the findings would also be sent to the AICC president and AICC general secretary. Any further action would be taken according to directions from the Congress high command, he said.
Konda Surekha disciplinary report considered past issues
Mallu Ravi said the committee had examined media reports before arriving at its assessment. Moreover, the panel considered previous developments while preparing its findings on Konda Surekha and Chinna Reddy.
“We have included all the issues in our report,” Mallu Ravi said. However, he declined to disclose the specific contents or recommendations contained in the report.
He said revealing what was written in the communication could result in notices being issued to him. The committee chairman stressed that discipline remained central to the functioning of the Congress organisation.
According to him, the party’s standing depended on maintaining discipline among its leaders. He said respect for the party was necessary if the Congress wanted to return to power again. Mallu Ravi argued that disciplinary action became necessary when conduct risked creating a negative public perception of the party.
Congress high command to decide further action
The Konda Surekha disciplinary report and the findings concerning Chinna Reddy would now move through the Congress organisational process. Mallu Ravi said the TPCC leadership had already received the committee’s report.
The report was then sent to the party in-charge, while the AICC leadership would also receive it. He said the Congress high command would determine what action should follow. The disciplinary committee wanted any decision to send a clear message to both party leaders and the cadre, Mallu Ravi said.
He maintained that organisational discipline was essential to preserving the Congress party’s reputation. However, Mallu Ravi did not reveal the conclusions reached by the committee or specify the disciplinary measures it had recommended.
He reiterated that the panel had incorporated all relevant matters concerning Konda Surekha and Chinna Reddy in its report. The Konda Surekha disciplinary report therefore moved to the higher Congress leadership, which would decide the next course of action.
