Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the Congress disciplinary committee was examining the Konda Surekha controversy and stressed that every party member must follow its decisions.
Responding to the controversy involving Minister Konda Surekha and her daughter, Revanth Reddy placed emphasis on party discipline. He said the decision taken by the Congress high command would remain binding on leaders and workers.
“Discipline is extremely important in the party. Whatever decision the high command takes, every leader and worker must abide by it,” he said.
However, the Chief Minister declined to publicly discuss the details of the internal party matter. He said issues or differences should instead be discussed through the appropriate forums within the Congress.
Konda Surekha controversy under disciplinary review
Revanth Reddy said the party disciplinary committee had already taken up the Konda Surekha controversy for examination. Therefore, any further action would depend on the committee’s report.
He made it clear that leaders and workers were expected to follow the party’s established disciplinary process. Moreover, he maintained that internal issues should remain within party forums rather than become subjects of public discussion.
The Chief Minister’s remarks came after the disciplinary committee issued notices in connection with the matter.
Surekha had already submitted her written explanation in response to the notices issued by the committee. The party disciplinary process was subsequently examining the matter before deciding on further action.
Revanth Reddy did not indicate what action could follow the committee’s review. Instead, he reiterated that the party high command’s eventual decision would have to be accepted by everyone concerned.
