Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday alleged that the Telangana government was adopting selective HYDRAA actions, accusing it of acting swiftly against ordinary citizens while failing to respond with the same urgency to allegations involving the Barrister Fatima Owaisi Educational Campus.
In a post on X, Kishan Reddy claimed that the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was pursuing actions that affected the livelihoods of common people while protecting the political interests of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM). He alleged that the educational campus was situated within the Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zone of Salkam Cheruvu but had not faced similar enforcement.
The Union Minister said the Telangana High Court had made observations regarding delays in the matter and that records had been sought from departments, including HYDRAA and the Education Department. However, he alleged that the government had not shown the same urgency in addressing the issue as it had in cases involving the general public.
Selective HYDRAA actions draw political criticism
Kishan Reddy further alleged that the Congress government was treating the MIM as though it represented the entire Muslim community. He claimed that HYDRAA demolitions had also affected poor Muslim families but alleged that neither the MIM nor the Congress had protested on their behalf.
He argued that the issue involving the Fatima institutions exposed what he described as the Congress government’s vote-bank politics and the MIM’s double standards. He further alleged that the government was protecting political allies instead of ensuring uniform enforcement of the law.
The Union Minister urged the Telangana government to stop what he described as selective enforcement and political favouritism. He called for equal application of the law to all citizens and asserted that public land and water bodies should be protected without discrimination. He also claimed that selective HYDRAA actions were eroding public confidence in governance.
