Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner Sri VC Sajjanar inspected security preparations for the Khairatabad Bada Ganesh immersion on Friday. He said the police had put extensive arrangements in place to ensure peaceful Vinayaka immersion celebrations and processions across the city.
Sajjanar reviewed the preparations with senior police officials at the ground. Before the inspection, he also performed special pujas for Bada Ganesh along with police officers.
The commissioner said police had planned security for both the Khairatabad Mahaganapati immersion and the main procession from Balapur to Hussainsagar. Meanwhile, officials coordinated preparations with several government departments under the Telangana government’s directions.
The planning involved the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, electricity authorities and the water board. According to Sajjanar, the departments worked together to address arrangements required for the major immersion events.
Police deployed around 20,000 personnel for security duties across the city. In addition, the department used advanced technology to monitor the processions and crowd movement continuously.
About 10,000 CCTV cameras along the main procession routes were connected to the Command Control Center at TGICCC in Banjara Hills. Officials there were assigned to monitor the routes and support security operations during the immersion.
Khairatabad Bada Ganesh security includes 26 She-Teams
Sajjanar also highlighted arrangements focused on the safety of women and young people during the crowded celebrations. Police deployed 26 She-Teams units in busy areas across the city.
These units were scheduled to remain on continuous duty in three shifts. As a result, police aimed to maintain a sustained security presence at locations expected to see large crowds.
Meanwhile, the commissioner urged residents to follow traffic instructions issued by the city traffic department during the immersion festival. He advised citizens to plan their journeys according to the traffic restrictions and directions announced from time to time.
The police also appealed to residents to celebrate the festival peacefully while maintaining the festive spirit. Sajjanar said the police machinery was working continuously to ensure the immersion concluded safely and peacefully.
The Khairatabad Bada Ganesh immersion remained part of the wider city arrangements covering the major processions. Police and other government departments continued coordinated preparations for the festival and related traffic movement.
