Hyderabad: Uppal police arrested six people in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl and subsequent abortion. Police said the girl’s mother allegedly facilitated the abuse by an accused man who was known to her.
According to Uppal CI Ramalinga Reddy and details provided about the victim, the family had moved to Hyderabad six years ago. The girl lived with her parents and brother in Prashanthnagar, Uppal, while her two elder sisters were married.
The girl’s mother worked as a jowar roti seller. Police said she had been in a close relationship with Maloth Ravi of Medipalli for about two years.
Ravi allegedly visited the girl’s house when her father and brother were away. According to the complaint details, the girl’s mother allegedly forced her to have sexual relations with Ravi about eight months ago.
Police said Ravi later came to the house while he was allegedly drunk. The girl was left with him after her mother went outside, following which he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Ravi allegedly threatened to kill the girl if she disclosed the incident. Police said he repeatedly assaulted her during the following period.
The girl subsequently became pregnant, according to the complaint details. Police said the girl’s mother, father-in-law and Ravi then took her to a hospital in Medipalli, where she underwent an abortion.
The family later moved the girl from their Prashanthnagar residence to another location. The alleged abuse and abortion came to light after the girl visited her elder sister’s house in Srinagar Colony, Uppal, about a week ago.
The girl reportedly told her elder sister about the alleged sexual assault and abortion. Her sister then informed their father, following which the family approached the police.
