Kavitha demands immediate probe into custodial death of Dalit youth in Huzurnagar

Hyderabad: A Dalit youth’s death in custody at the Huzurnagar Sub Jail in Suryapet triggered widespread calls for a custodial death probe across Telangana. The youth, identified as Rajesh, died while under judicial custody, and the incident sparked protests from his relatives, local residents and Dalit organisations. They organised a rally to the police station, demanding justice and immediate accountability from the authorities.

The protesters said the custodial death raised serious concerns about the handling of detainees. Moreover, they urged senior officials to intervene because the family continued to allege mistreatment. The incident soon attracted state-wide attention, drawing reactions from political leaders and community groups.

Custodial death probe demanded after Dalit youth’s death

The custodial death probe demand intensified after Telangana Jagruthi president and former MP K. Kavitha commented on the issue through the platform X. She stated that the death of a Dalit youth under police watch in Suryapet was shocking. Additionally, she alleged that the family faced intimidation even after the incident and required immediate protection.

Kavitha urged the state government to begin a transparent inquiry without delay.
