Hyderabad: BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy challenged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to resign from Kodangal and face him in a Huzurabad by-election.
Kaushik Reddy said he would also resign from Huzurabad and contest the proposed bypoll against the Chief Minister. He challenged Revanth Reddy to prove his electoral strength in the constituency.
The BRS MLA said he would publicly touch his nose to the floor inside the Assembly if Revanth Reddy secured his deposit in the election. He made the remarks while speaking to the media at the Assembly media point.
Kaushik Reddy attacks CM over Assembly remarks
Kaushik Reddy criticised the language and remarks used by Revanth Reddy during the Assembly proceedings. He described the Chief Minister’s words as objectionable and said people across Telangana were watching his conduct.
According to the BRS MLA, Revanth Reddy spoke at will without showing respect to Opposition members. He accused the Chief Minister of using inappropriate language against the Opposition during the House proceedings.
Kaushik Reddy also alleged that Congress MLAs openly threatened BRS members inside the Assembly premises. He claimed some Congress legislators threatened to attack them with knives.
Against this backdrop, he questioned the government’s warning of action through the Ethics Committee. The MLA called it strange that the government was targeting BRS members while ignoring the alleged threats from Congress legislators.
BRS MLA targets Kadiyam Srihari
Kaushik Reddy also hit back at Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari over his criticism of the party-switching issue.
He alleged that Srihari had won on a BRS party B-form before joining the Congress. The BRS MLA also referred to the funds used during his political career.
Kaushik Reddy questioned Srihari’s moral position after he had served as Deputy Chief Minister, MLC and MP. He asked why those values had not mattered when Srihari held those positions.
The BRS MLA further criticised leaders who left the party for what he described as personal political interests. He said such leaders had no right to lecture the BRS on political ethics.
