Hyderabad: Karimnagar community kitchen was launched to provide nutritious breakfast to 49,025 government school students across four constituencies. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and MLA Gangula Kamalakar inaugurated the facility at the Karimnagar Market Yard.
The Telangana government partnered with Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation India as the implementation partner for the breakfast programme. During the visit, the minister inspected the large kitchen equipped with advanced technology.
Under the programme, students will receive breakfast according to a daily menu. On Monday, the menu includes idli and sambar, while Tuesday’s breakfast will feature poori and aloo kurma.
On Wednesday, students will receive dosa with chutney. Similarly, Thursday’s menu includes upma and chutney. On Friday, the kitchen will serve millet idli with sambar.
Finally, Saturday’s breakfast will consist of bonda and chutney. In addition, students will receive milk on alternate days.
Karimnagar community kitchen covers four constituencies
The programme will cover 16,544 students in Huzurabad. Meanwhile, Manakondur will account for 8,645 students, while Choppadandi will cover 7,481.
Karimnagar constituency will have 16,355 students under the programme. Together, these four constituencies account for 49,025 government school students.
The government said the initiative aimed to create a better learning environment for students. In addition, it sought to help children attend school in good health and with greater enthusiasm.
The new kitchen at Karimnagar Market Yard will support breakfast distribution across the four constituencies. Accordingly, the government and its implementation partner will provide the planned meals through the facility.
The weekly menu will include traditional breakfast items as well as millet-based food. Milk will also form part of the programme on alternate days.
The initiative will cover all 49,025 students identified across Huzurabad, Manakondur, Choppadandi and Karimnagar. The kitchen has been set up to support the programme across these areas.
