Hyderabad: BRS leader and Korutla MLA Kalvakuntla Sanjay on Friday strongly criticised the Congress government’s power point presentation in the Telangana Assembly, alleging that it lacked substance on river water issues and reflected only arrogance and authority.
Speaking at the Assembly media point, Sanjay said the presentation failed to provide concrete facts on river water sharing. Instead, he alleged that it showcased the government’s attitude rather than solutions.
Targeting Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the BRS MLA accused him of making contradictory statements. He said the Chief Minister spoke of respecting the Assembly on one hand and made remarks about hanging opponents on the other.
Kalvakuntla Sanjay targets Revanth Reddy’s remarks
Kalvakuntla Sanjay alleged that Revanth Reddy’s statements reflected instability in his approach. He questioned how the Chief Minister could claim to offer respect in the Assembly while, according to him, making extreme comments in the same press interaction.
The MLA said opposition leaders were entitled to dignity in both the Assembly and Parliament. He accused the Chief Minister of behaving as though Assembly rules were dictated by him alone.
Referring to remarks comparing political leaders with terrorist Ajmal Kasab, Sanjay said such comments were unacceptable. He claimed people would respond politically to what he described as irresponsible statements.
MLA questions Palamuru-Rangareddy, Jurala decisions
Sanjay said Revanth Reddy, as a leader from Palamuru, had an opportunity to safeguard regional interests. He urged the Chief Minister to use that opportunity responsibly.
He questioned the government’s decision to announce a crop holiday under the Jurala project. Sanjay said water was still available in the KLI system, but the government chose to lift water from Jurala based on advice from its consultant.
The MLA urged the Chief Minister to appoint advisors who understood Telangana’s interests. He also called for removing advisors from Andhra Pradesh and appointing those familiar with the state’s irrigation issues.
Sanjay questioned how the government planned to lift floodwaters when net water availability existed. He recalled that the government had already lifted water using a single motor.
Demanding an immediate discussion, Kalvakuntla Sanjay asked the government to take up the Palamuru–Rangareddy project in the Assembly either on Friday or Saturday. He also criticised Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, alleging a lack of preparedness on irrigation matters.
