Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Traffic Police have issued a city-wide traffic advisory in view of anticipated congestion during the Sankranti festival period. Authorities expect a surge in travel from January 9 to 13 and return traffic from January 16 to 19.
The advisory comes amid large-scale movement of private vehicles and buses towards Andhra Pradesh and various Telangana districts. The police warned of moderate congestion at several key corridors, including Kachiguda and Secunderabad Railway Stations, MGBS–Aramghar, SR Nagar–Lakdikapool, Rethibowli–Aramghar via Attapur, Kachiguda–Ramanthapur, and MGBS–Dilsukhnagar.
Citizens urged to plan ahead and use public transport
To ease travel during the festive rush, commuters have been advised to avoid peak hours, plan their routes in advance, and consider using Metro Rail and other public transport options. Real-time traffic updates will be available on the Hyderabad Traffic Police’s Facebook page and the official X (Twitter) handle @HYDP.
For emergencies, commuters can reach the traffic helpline at 9010203626.
