Hyderabad: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar directed officials to remain alert amid Hyderabad rains and ensure public safety during Ganesh festivities.

The Transport and BC Welfare Minister said the government had put officials across departments on alert. He asked them to respond quickly to waterlogging, inundation in low-lying areas and other public complaints.

Ponnam also urged residents to report such problems to the authorities immediately. He directed departments to coordinate closely and resolve complaints without delay.

With Ganesh Chavithi celebrations underway, the minister sought special measures to prevent inconvenience to devotees. He asked the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi and pandal organisers to take necessary precautions.

Electrical safety required particular attention, Ponnam said. He urged organisers to carefully manage electrical wires, connections and generators and avoid any negligence.
