Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday ordered officials to maintain a Hyderabad rain alert and take immediate measures as heavy showers lashed the city. He directed the official machinery to remain on high alert and prevent inconvenience to the public.
The Chief Minister instructed commissioners of the three municipal corporations in the Greater Hyderabad region to continuously monitor the situation. Moreover, he asked HYDRAA and the police commissioners to coordinate closely with the civic authorities.
Revanth directed officials to prevent waterlogging on major roads, at junctions and in residential colonies. He also asked them to quickly deploy personnel and machinery wherever water accumulated.
Hyderabad rain alert focused on flooding and traffic
The Chief Minister directed the Energy Department to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the heavy rain. Meanwhile, he asked the Traffic Police to take proactive measures to prevent congestion on city roads.
Revanth instructed officials to focus particularly on low-lying areas and colonies vulnerable to flooding. In addition, he directed special teams to clear obstructions affecting the flow of rainwater. The teams were asked to remove blockages from drains and storm-water channels to prevent water accumulation.
The Hyderabad rain alert also required rescue teams to remain prepared for immediate deployment during emergencies. Furthermore, Revanth directed control rooms to closely monitor conditions and respond promptly whenever problems emerged.
The Chief Minister asked officials to remain available on the ground throughout the rain situation. He also directed them to continuously assess conditions and take all necessary measures to prevent inconvenience to residents.
