Hyderabad: The Telangana government would provide necessary civic facilities and pursue Nalgonda smart city development, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said on Tuesday. He said the government was also working towards securing the Best Corporation Award for the newly formed Nalgonda Municipal Corporation.
Komatireddy inaugurated two wetting machines that the authorities procured for sanitation operations at a cost of ₹1.01 crore. He inaugurated the machines at Indirabhavan, his camp office in the Nalgonda district headquarters.
Speaking to the media, the minister said Nalgonda Municipal Corporation had recently received the Swachh Award. He added that authorities were working to provide comprehensive civic services to residents. The corporation had also invited tenders estimated at ₹83 crore to provide round-the-clock drinking water supply, he said.
Nalgonda smart city development covers roads and drainage
Komatireddy said the corporation had laid 63 km of cement concrete roads using Special Development Fund resources. Moreover, the government planned to develop roads and drainage facilities in the remaining divisions of the corporation. The minister said authorities would complete the Sewage Treatment Plant within six months.
He added that the government would mobilise all necessary funds for Nalgonda smart city development. Komatireddy also expressed confidence that the municipal corporation would secure the Best Corporation Award.
Meanwhile, authorities were constructing an Outer Ring Road around Nalgonda Municipal Corporation at a cost of ₹900 crore. Komatireddy said the development programme also included drainage and Sewage Treatment Plant works.
