Hyderabad: “Deleting the videos doesn’t end it. Legal action is unavoidable against those responsible,” warned Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, issuing a stern message to YouTubers exploiting minors for online fame. He said filming obscene videos with children for social media popularity is not only unacceptable but also a punishable offence under the law.
Sajjanar explained that such acts clearly amount to child exploitation and violate both the POCSO Act and the Juvenile Justice Act. Therefore, Hyderabad Police will take strict legal action against anyone creating or uploading indecent content involving minors.
Sajjanar: ‘Don’t trade children’s dignity for views and likes’
Earlier, the Commissioner questioned how content creators could risk a child’s future for social media fame. Sharing video clips on X, he strongly criticised YouTubers who interviewed minors in inappropriate ways. “If you forget values for views, what are you teaching the next generation?” he asked.
Moreover, Sajjanar urged YouTubers to interview people who inspire children and youth instead. “Promote role models who contribute to society’s progress — don’t mislead children for your publicity,” he said. He also reminded creators that producing such content is not only immoral but also a legal crime.
Public urged to report exploitative content
Furthermore, Sajjanar appealed to citizens to report such videos immediately through the 1930 cybercrime helpline or cybercrime.gov.in
. He warned that police would not tolerate anyone misusing children for online entertainment.
In addition, he advised parents to protect their children’s mental health and guide them towards positive values. “Raising children means protecting their innocence and dignity,” he said.
Following his warning, the YouTuber deleted the objectionable videos. However, Sajjanar later clarified that simply removing them would not prevent legal consequences. “Deleting videos doesn’t end it. Legal action is unavoidable for exploiting minors,” he tweeted.
