Hyderabad Police Commissioner celebrates New Year across city landmarks

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Police Commissioner marked the arrival of the New Year 2026 by taking part in celebrations at several prominent locations across the city on Wednesday night.

City Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar, IPS, attended midnight programmes and cut cakes with senior officers. During the visits, he extended New Year greetings to city residents, police personnel, and their family members.

At midnight, the celebrations began at the Telangana Secretariat. Subsequently, the Commissioner visited Charminar, KBR National Park, and the Mehdipatnam Rythu Bazaar. At each location, senior police officials joined the programme.

While addressing officers and the public, the Commissioner thanked Hyderabad residents for their support to the police over the past year. He also urged citizens to continue cooperating in maintaining law and order during 2026.

Meanwhile, he praised police officers and staff who remained on duty during festivals and celebrations. Many personnel, he noted, stayed away from their families to ensure public safety. As a result, the department continued to work towards making Hyderabad safer and crime-free.

In addition, the Commissioner said the police deployed around 10,000 personnel across the city. This deployment, he explained, helped prevent any untoward incidents. He therefore expressed gratitude to citizens for their cooperation with the Hyderabad police.

Several senior officers attended the celebrations, including Joint Commissioners of Police D Joel Davis and Tafseer Iqbal.

Deputy Commissioners of Police Rakshita Krishna Murthy, K Apoorva Rao, K Shilpavalli, Kiran Prabhakar Kare, Lavanya Naik Jadhav, and CH Srinivas were also present.

Apart from them, officers such as G Chandramohan, CH Rupesh, Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, and V Aravind Babu took part. Officers exchanged greetings and celebrated the New Year in a cordial atmosphere.
