Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metro RTC common pass launched on Friday, allowing commuters to travel on Metro trains and TGSRTC city buses with one pass. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka launched the facility at Praja Bhavan.
The initiative aimed to simplify daily travel for people who use both public transport services. In many cases, commuters cover part of their journey by Metro and the remaining distance by city bus. Earlier, they needed separate tickets or passes for the two services. As a result, the new system combines those travel arrangements.
The Hyderabad Metro RTC common pass offers daily and monthly options. The daily pass costs ₹400, while the monthly pass costs ₹8,500. Of the daily fare, ₹300 goes towards Metro travel and ₹100 covers RTC services. Similarly, the monthly fare includes ₹7,000 for Metro travel and ₹1,500 for RTC services.
Passengers can use the pass for unlimited travel during its validity period. In addition, the common pass covers Hyderabad Metro trains and TGSRTC city buses operating within the Outer Ring Road. However, Pushpak services do not come under the facility.
Hyderabad Metro RTC common pass connects Metro and city buses
The government introduced the system to ease difficulties faced by regular commuters who depend on both transport networks. Therefore, the common pass gives them one travel option instead of separate arrangements for Metro and city bus journeys.
For first-time purchases, passengers must pay a ₹100 card fee. However, they can receive the amount back when they return the card. Meanwhile, Metro stations and other designated points provide the passes.
The Hyderabad Metro RTC common pass forms part of efforts to integrate public transport services in the city. Earlier, authorities had worked on the joint pass system to offer daily and monthly travel options across Metro and RTC services.
Meanwhile, TGSRTC introduced the MeeTicket mobile application for digital ticketing. Through the app, passengers can select their boarding point, destination and ticket type. They can then make digital payments and receive a QR-based ticket for verification during the journey.
In addition, the corporation introduced a digital weekly bus pass priced at ₹600. The weekly pass allows unlimited bus travel for seven days through the app.
