Hyderabad: Hyderabad airport cops, including a sub-inspector and an inspector, were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau after being caught accepting Rs 2 lakh as part of an alleged Rs 5 lakh bribe demand, officials said on Wednesday.
The accused were identified as Sub-Inspector U.K. Siddeshwar and Inspector Sampathi Kanakaiah, both posted at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Police Outpost. They were trapped by the ACB’s Ranga Reddy unit while receiving the money from a complainant.
According to ACB officials, the Hyderabad airport cops had allegedly demanded the bribe to file a charge sheet and to refrain from implicating and arresting the complainant’s family members in a case registered at the RGI Airport Police Station in Shamshabad. The agency stated that the officers misused their official position to obtain undue advantage.
