Hyderabad: Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao came down heavily on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of ignoring the crisis in paddy procurement while attending beauty pageants. Speaking at Telangana Bhavan, Harish Rao said that farmers were waiting for days at procurement centres while the CM was busy with event reviews and celebrations.
He claimed ₹512 crore worth of bonus payments for fine variety paddy were still pending. Around four lakh metric tonnes of paddy was stuck at procurement centres, yet the government had procured less than 40 lakh metric tonnes this Yasangi season against its 70-lakh-tonne target. “Farmers are fighting at procurement centres like it’s a war, but the CM doesn’t seem to care,” Harish said.
He alleged that while food growers suffer, government machinery and police forces were being deployed for large-scale beauty events. “They should be attending to paddy heaps, not parading around glamour shows,” he said.
Harish pointed out that payments promised within 48 hours by Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy were still pending after ten days, and not a rupee of the announced bonus had been released. He added that nearly one lakh metric tonnes of paddy couldn’t even reach mills due to a shortage of trucks.
He criticised the delay in input support, noting that only up to three acres of Yasangi Rythu Bandhu assistance had been credited, and the promised ₹15,000 per acre support was still pending. “They said help would reach before the crop season. Now they say it will come slowly throughout the year,” he remarked, calling it “a classic case of too little, too late.”
Harish also questioned the government’s handling of the Kharif Rythu Bandhu, alleging it had been skipped, and raised concerns over the ₹18,000 crore budget allocation for farm aid not being disbursed effectively.
On reports suggesting his possible party switch, Harish Rao dismissed them as false. He said BRS leaders including Dasoju Sravan and Errolla Srinivas had already filed complaints about the fake news. “I’ve said hundreds of times—KCR is my leader. Whatever he says, I will follow,” he clarified. He added that he would fully accept any decision the party makes, including handing over the reins to KTR.
