Harish Rao slams Revanth Reddy over Global Summit flop

Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS leader T Harish Rao launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He alleged that the recently held Telangana Rising Global Summit resembled a real estate expo rather than an investment forum. Further, he accused the Congress government of bringing disrepute to Telangana on the international stage with what he termed an “utter flop show”.

Rao claimed the summit was a political PR stunt aimed at diverting public attention from two years of governance failures. He said the “vision document” released at the event lacked both clarity and commitment. He called it a colourful bundle of half-truths and meaningless numbers.

According to Rao, despite months of hype, not a single Chief Minister from other states attended the summit. He ridiculed the claim that 5,000 foreign delegates would participate. Rao noted that the only notable figure present was Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar. “Even Congress MPs and AICC leaders stayed away,” he remarked.

Revanth Reddy accused of using summit to push real estate deals

Harish Rao alleged that Congress workers and MBA students were made to wear formal suits and fill empty seats. This was done to project a successful event. “This was neither global nor visionary. It was a local political drama,” he said. He added that the summit was a façade to sell off land parcels in the name of development near the proposed Pharma City.

He further alleged that benamis of the ruling party had already acquired lands near Pharma City. These lands were now being marketed under the banner of ‘Future City’. The BRS leader called the entire exercise a “real estate scam” disguised as an investment drive.

Rao also questioned the fate of the investments and job promises made during previous global forums. He pointed out that the government had claimed to have secured ₹40,232 crore in investments and 2,500 jobs after the 2024 Davos trip. Additionally, ₹1.78 lakh crore was claimed from 16 global companies during the January 2025 World Economic Forum meet. “Where are those investments? Where are the jobs?” he asked.

He criticised the government for repeatedly travelling to Davos, the US, South Korea, Australia, Singapore, and Japan. These trips were made in the name of attracting investments, but they failed to deliver tangible outcomes. Rao threw an open challenge to CM Revanth Reddy, demanding a white paper on the total investments received. He also demanded details on the actual jobs created through all the summits and foreign trips conducted over the last two years.
