Hyderabad: BRS leader T Harish Rao criticised the Congress government over outsourcing employees salary cuts in municipalities and municipal corporations across Telangana.
Harish Rao, the former minister and BRS deputy floor leader, called the salary reductions unjust. He said outsourcing workers had served municipal bodies for 20 to 25 years.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation Outsourcing Employees Association met Harish Rao at his residence. They submitted a petition seeking justice for the affected employees.
Harish Rao said the government’s GO Rt No. 1181, issued on July 12, 2026, had become a burden for municipal employees. Instead of recognising their experience and long service, he said, the government had reduced their wages.
As a result, he said the decision would place a severe financial burden on the families of 31,000 employees.
Outsourcing employees salary cuts trigger demand to scrap GO 1181
Harish Rao compared the wage policies of the BRS and Congress governments. According to him, the BRS government had increased employees’ salaries, while the Congress government had reduced them.
He questioned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over what he called discriminatory treatment of employees. He said cutting workers’ salaries did not amount to people’s governance.
Therefore, Harish Rao demanded that the government immediately cancel GO Rt No. 1181. He also sought continuation of the employees’ previous status without changes.
In addition, he demanded wage protection for the affected workers. He sought priority for eligible outsourcing employees with long experience when the government fills vacant regular posts in municipalities and municipal corporations.
Harish Rao said the BRS would continue to demand protection of outsourcing employees’ interests. He also called for recognition of their long experience.
Following the meeting, the Greater Warangal outsourcing employees’ representatives sought action on their demands.
