Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Saturday carried out an administrative reshuffle under the GHMC reorganisation, with Commissioner RV Karnan overseeing the transfer and posting of 60 Deputy Commissioners to newly created circles.
The step followed the Telangana government’s recent Gazette notification that restructured the civic body into 12 zones, 60 circles and 300 wards. Earlier, the government had appointed zonal commissioners for all 12 zones as part of the revised civic setup.
According to official orders issued by RV Karnan, all 60 Deputy Commissioners assumed charge with immediate effect. Previously, these officers had worked across 30 circles and in several departments within the GHMC.
GHMC reorganisation aligns officers with new structure
Under the GHMC reorganisation, the civic body reassigned officers to match the expanded municipal framework. As a result, each newly formed circle received a Deputy Commissioner to handle local administration.
Moreover, the transfers strictly followed the Gazette notification that formally brought the new zones, circles and wards into force. Through this move, the government aimed to distribute work evenly and improve day-to-day supervision.
Officials said the GHMC reorganisation would strengthen coordination between zones and circles. As a result, civic services were expected to move faster at the field level.
