Hyderabad: A Gadwal school bus accident near Boravelli left about 12 students with minor injuries on Monday morning. The private travel bus was carrying 37 students and two teachers from Salem to Kurnool when it overturned.
Manopad Sub-Inspector B. Swathi said the accident occurred around 6.10 am after the driver reportedly fell asleep. The bus then went out of control and overturned near Boravelli in Jogulamba Gadwal district.
Police immediately shifted the injured students to a nearby hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, none of the students suffered serious injuries, averting a major accident.
After receiving treatment, the injured students were sent to Kurnool on an RTC bus. The school management also arranged their return journey to Salem along with the teachers.
Gadwal school bus accident prompts student assistance
The private travel bus was travelling from Salem towards Kurnool when the accident occurred. At the time, 37 students and two teachers were travelling on the bus.
According to B. Swathi, the driver reportedly entered a state of drowsiness before losing control. The bus subsequently overturned near Boravelli at about 6.10 am.
Around 12 students sustained minor injuries in the Gadwal school bus accident. Police took the injured students to a nearby hospital, where they received treatment.
The source stated that no case had been registered in connection with the accident at that time. It also said the school management made arrangements for the students and teachers to return to Salem.
