Agriculture Department warns against fertiliser linking and overpricing

Hyderabad: The Telangana Agriculture Department reviewed fertiliser supply arrangements for the upcoming kharif season. It also directed officials to ensure timely availability of fertilisers across the state.

Agriculture Director Dr. B. Gopi chaired a review meeting at the Agriculture Commissionerate on Tuesday. Fertiliser dealers, wholesalers and company representatives attended the meeting.

During the review, Dr. Gopi stressed the need to maintain adequate stocks. He also urged officials to prevent shortages during the cultivation season.

Further, the director instructed officials to monitor district-wise inventories continuously. He said proactive measures were necessary to ensure smooth distribution.

Fertiliser supply review focuses on fair sales practices

Dr. Gopi made it clear that dealers must not force farmers to buy pesticides, micronutrients or other products along with fertilisers.

He warned that the department would not tolerate linked sales of fertilisers and other agricultural products.

According to the director, dealers should sell only the fertilisers requested by farmers.

Moreover, he instructed officials to investigate complaints immediately. He also directed them to take action against violators without delay.

Fertiliser supply monitoring intensified across districts

The Agriculture Director directed authorities to take strict action against dealers who sell fertilisers above the Maximum Retail Price (MRP).

He said officials should invoke provisions of the Fertiliser Control Order, 1985, against offenders.

Meanwhile, district inspection teams were told to intensify field checks and respond quickly to farmers’ complaints.

Dr. Gopi said continuous monitoring of fertiliser supply, storage and distribution would prevent inconvenience during the kharif season.

Special Director of Cooperation Rahul Raj, senior Agriculture Department officials, fertiliser company representatives and dealer association members attended the meeting.
