Elderly woman dies as wall collapses in Hanamkonda; house caves in at Rayaparthi

Hyderabad: Heavy rains caused by the Montha cyclone claimed one life in Hanamkonda district on Wednesday. A 60-year-old woman died when a wall collapsed in Kondaparthi village of Atmakur mandal.

Residents said the victim, Gaddala Sooramma, was asleep when the wall suddenly fell on her. She died instantly. Police and revenue officers reached the scene soon after the incident and began collecting details. Officials are verifying the extent of the damage.

House collapses in Rayaparthi mandal, no casualties

In a separate incident, heavy rain destroyed a house in Ookallu village of Rayaparthi mandal, Warangal district. The mud walls of Komati Sattayya’s house were soaked in rainwater and collapsed completely.

No one was inside the house when it fell, so the family escaped unharmed. However, their belongings were ruined, and the family suffered heavy property loss. Local authorities inspected the area and provided help to the affected family.
